Marriage in the modern sense is rather different compared to what it used to mean or why. Just like with any language marriage has transformed to suit the times or agenda.
Polygamy used to be allowed before the Roman Empire days [some place still allow it], Christian Church started talking about the subject in 5AD. Roman Catholic Church formally defined marriage sanctioned by God in 12th century and came up with idea needs to be in a Church. Ancient Greeks allowed divorce, rare during early Roman period to allow a thing unless the Church agreed to it. Henry VIII set in moment the trend of divorce of breaking away from Catholic Church in the 16th Centruy.
16th and 17th century Europe and America had a couple concepts which allowed courting but only within a set of rules.
When it comes to marriage lets not forget that child marriage, forced marriage which both still happen around the world.
Tradition was taken on board by the Church in order to have more hold over people.
As for same-sex unions that was a common thing in Ancient Greece and Rome, Ancient Mesopotamia, China [not every bit] , Ancient European history.
That stopped once Christianity was at the heart of the Roman Empire.
One or two emperors of Rome who was married to another male.
Ceremonies have been converted from their originals use to another agenda the tradition is ages old with a different message for the agenda.
Current form of some tradition comes from the 19/20th century view points. Pink used to be a boys color and Blue was a girls color.
Knowledge is like air for the curious minded, guessing some people don't believe me.

Don't understand the logic of fine with it as long not in my face so guessing any displays make you feel awkward.
Think rather obvious what my view on the subject is and how silly the whole debate is.
