(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So a couple days ago my 3rd party router stopped working which meant I had to use my 1st party ISP supplied router.

Which is terrible only been using it for two days right now and hate the thing again.
This got me thinking are any of you happy with your 1st party ISP supplied router or like me did you install a 3rd party router into your system.

Plan on putting my 3rd party router back as my main router later today just a case of being ill and tired you don't want to do anything.
Some ISP in their terms state you can't install any 3rd party equipment so keep that in mind.

So how many of you are happy with your ISP equipment and how many of you installed your own equipment.
3rd party router is RT 66U

[Disclaimer: Not a saying you should break the terms of your ISP by installing your own equipment]

Nope, have a Sky Hub SR101 or something, it's a HUGE pile of shit. No good wireless standards in it, only has 802.11b nothing newer, the ports on the back only go up to 100Mb/s so the wired LAN is incredibly fucking slow too, also only has a single option for dynamic DNS forwarding and the one option they give you, is a paid service when I'd much rather use a free one. I had to buy a cheap unmanaged Gigabit switch to put in my room so that my local File server and FTP server are actually usable, without it, it's unbearably slow.

I think I have a Belkin router lying around somewhere but I just can't be bothered with having to start sniffing packets to get a password to just be able to use my own router, it's infuriating the shit equipment they hand out and don't give you the option to easily change.

Currently in the process of getting my 3rd party router back online.
Also that piece of shit the same one I had off sky.

Got my password and username but can't work out why keep getting a timed out message now when it was working a couple of days ago.

This often will depend on the carrier and what kind of device they provide. I would always recommend diving deep into the "advanced" settings with configuring the router. Often times they will come defaulted to limit bandwith among other items.

Im with BT and have the top BT Infinity package. Each time a new Homehub comes out I get it for free from BT. I'm happy with the Homehub 5 as it does everything I need it to and its never skipped a beat. However I wouldn't mind trying a 3rd party router to see what I'm 'missing out' on.

They are generally shit. TWC here gives out Docsis 3 modems (depending on your tier) and that alone is great till you get the modem and realize it's a combo unit and it barely functions.
