(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); David Cameron has today revealed his intention to ban communication services like Snapchat, WhatsApp and iMessage if they continue to be encrypted from the security services.

Snapchat, WhatsApp and Apple's iMessage all encrypt their messages making it impossible for governments to look at them.

In the wake of the Paris shootings, the Prime Minister would ban these services in an attempt to open up all forms of online communication to the security services.

At present, government departments like the Police and MI5 require written permission from the Home Secretary to look at a person's online data.

Even with that warrant however they still won't be able to see everything as many online services and apps now encrypt all forms of communication following the Edward Snowden revelations.

The Prime Minister would ban these communication services until they agreed to open up their data to the government.

Absolutely disgraceful. Does he want the whole country to hate him?
The law will never pass. Snapchat, Whatsapp, Facebook messanger ect are too big for something like this to happen.

Your government will come to some agreement with these companies.

Good. Snapchat is so stupid. I use it occasionally, but let's be honest we all get tired of seeing Laim's stories.
