Post: If you could enter a black hole, would you?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Well recently I've been bored out of my mind and got around to becoming a youtube addicted couch potato. Not the best use of my time, but I start college soon so it will be short lived. Personal life aside I got around to watching a slew of videos on black holes. No not the ones you sexually misguided people are fantasizing about, the ones in space. Scientists have many theories on what a black hole is, how it acts, etc. However there is no accepted theory for what happens when you enter a black hole. Sir Issac Newton and Albert Einstein have both said that matter cannot be destroyed or created, however a black hole isn't said to destroy matter, simply contain it. Infinite amounts of it. This means there must be something in there/on the other side, right? Some have even theorized that our ENTIRE universe is actually inside one big black hole. Okay sexual puns aside, lets get to the point.

If NASA or some other big space agency discovered a black hole close enough to our planet that we could send a ship into it, would you volunteer to go?

I for one, know that I love my life here, but I can't help but wonder what is on the other side of a black hole. Even if I were to never return, never to be heard from again, simply appear to cease to exist, I would love to give my life to find out what exactly happens when you enter a black hole. We can theorize, and even make movies that have some accurate theories on what would happen after crossing the event horizon (Interstellar) but we can never truly know until we test it.

I don't think I would because of the fact that you'll never be able to get back through the event horizon. However, since we're on the topic of black holes I thought this was a good read. You must login or register to view this content.

Once your over the event horizon the gravity is so strong (infinite amount of gravity caused by the singularity inside) you will be stretched out (spaghettifaction) untill your a just a massive string of particles and atoms. It's certain death once you go over the horizon, I wouldn't want to be the first to go in.

According to the movie Interstellar, you could survive a black hole and enter a different dimension where you can change the past to change the future

Rather see what happens. Any long term damage etc.. humans are good at fucking things up Sal

Lol i know its a movie i was jus saying that because that could also be a theory since we are not even 100% sure black holes even exist. Stephen Hawking even went to change his theories to that there are no black holes. We've never seen one, and have no idea what theyre capable of. Everything is a theory but yeah for one i would want to enter a black hole IF there is one, just to see what happens. But i'd want to complete my bucket list (dont even have one yet lol) and fulfill my dreams, before risking my life and dying somewhere millions of miles away from home

I have also looked at various Black Hole videos or read about them, as well as seen movies such as Interstellar, which of course is a fictional experience but nonetheless, if I was told I have to leave the planet and/or die in a way of my choice, or it be a space exploration mission. Definitely would want to see what happened if I went in a black hole... Would be nice to be able to reach the singularity but without some kind of device it wouldn't be possible :p (theorized)
