Oddly enough I feel as though windows OS does the same thing as you give it more memory.

I agree with Windows doing this too but I sorted that problem by switching to the glorious OS X Enzo

It's not much better on firefox sadly. I've left the browser open for about 12 hours literally doing nothing and it can eat up to 2GB's.
