A lot of people don't really bother anymore. Just wondering do any of you still pre order games?

Nah.. No point in pre-ordering when you can get it the next day.. No difference really.. maybe just a small advantage like a DLC, but i don't even play the game as much after i buy it

There are certainly pros and cons to pre-ordering, and I believe now that most games are digital, there's more cons than pros.

Back in the day, pre-ordering was done because Wal-Mart never seemed to stock more than 20 damn games, and if you wanted a copy you needed to pre-order it. Nowadays, unless you're someone who collects physical copies of games (even then, you can get them on Amazon and they usually won't sell out), companies need to put more of an incentive for pre-ordering, since technically it's pointless. Some of the things they do are pre-order "bonuses," such as a piece of artwork you'll look at once and forget about, or Beta access and DLC. That's about all I can think of, other than pre-loading the game if you have a slow internet connection and want to play it that night, as opposed to the next day.

But sadly, a lot of the big AAA companies have abused the crap out of the pre-order system, so they can sell their broken games to people who pre-order and make more money than they originally would have, if people had enough information to have an informed opinion on a game, before buying it. Currently, as it stands, pre-ordering is anti-consumer. Am I going to tell people they can't pre-order? Certainly not. Even though most pre-orders are crap, there are still some acceptable circumstances. For example, Call of Duty. People who play those games generally know they're going to get the product they assume the game to be, if they pre-order.

But, before I start rambling on forever, I will answer the thread's question: ever since I pre-ordered Battlefield 4 and couldn't properly enjoy that game until a year after launch, due to so many bugs and horrible server response time, I have been extremely skeptical of most games. I find it's better to wait until after it releases, because then there's a plethora of reviews, unless someone got a review copy of course.
