I was shocked that I didn't see a topic on this heated, current topic that we have going on with the Transgender inclusivity in Target restrooms. As most of you know, Target released a statement/policy that would allow customers to use the respective restroom that they self-identify as. I would love to see everyone's opinion on the issue at hand and providing my own below.
My Opinion:
My issue with the policy being instilled is that of loopholes which could occur by men "self-identifying" themselves as woman for the sole purpose of viewing, filming, harassing, or abusing woman. This does not apply to transgenders which I have no problem with. I do not see them causing an issue and simply would use the restrooms simply to pee/poo. It's the pedophiles, mentally unstable, abusers, etc that I am worried about. They can literally just say I "self-identify myself as a woman" and walk in to do as they please. There has even already been documented cases that contain these exact instances. Target is trying to take the politically correct stance like many others to appease the masses. By doing so, this infringes on women/men's right to privacy in those respective bathrooms, especially with children who are most exposed. They are more worried about .03% of the population over the vast majority of people who will not feel safe with sick people taking advantage of loopholes. The solution that I think would work is that they build separate restrooms for individuals of all genders.
