May is mental health awareness month
Key point to make here if you need support or help get it. Denial won't get you far get the support you need.
Various members of this forum have suffered from mental health problems ended up causing serious health problems. Not much else to say even people who you think are strong have suffered from it. Mental health often viewed as less important to physical health both are important.
Debating sharing my experience but just this short post for now.

I was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder since I was a wee lad (around kindergarten age). Hated taking the pills every day, and gradually just went off them. Got into the Gifted program by 2nd grade, and made up for my low attention span through my reading level and drawing skills. (Had a high-school level of reading comprehension all the way back in elementary.) Will say this, always acted like a class clown between middle school and high school, but if anything's ever gotten me through the years, it's reading, drawing, and just music in general. (Music is the only drug I need. :p) Now some people may say ADD/ADHD isn't a real illness, but that's easy to say when you're in a superior position. Would say it also allowed me to pursue web design and film editing at a young age, since I didn't feel the need to focus on school-related topics. Also a little note: I've always had a speech impediment, though small now, but especially when it comes to words with "th" in them.

I was 'diagnosed' with ADD/ADHD in middle school. Which was odd because I had straight A's. The only thing I did was sleep during class. Which ultimately led me to drop out because I would end up skipping class to either sleep in or go to the beach and sleep on the beach. I honestly do not think either ADD or ADHD are real disorders yet an exploitation of an individuals creativity. I say this because some of the most creative, hilarious, or bright people I've met have been 'diagnosed.' If anything it's just big pharma pushing more pills to make record breaking profits through placebo.
I ask you to notice what you wrote and recall things you've experienced in school. You had superb reading comprehension yet you were diagnosed with a pseudo-mental disorder. Have you ever met some dumb motherfuckers who couldn't read to save their asses nor comprehend material yet they were never diagnosed with ADD/ADHD? Lest we forget Albert Einstein.
This video might have a bit of relevancy to the topic. Good ole Uncle Buck.
Love this post... Wish more people cared about this issue.
Mental health is very close to my heart & I wish things were done at a global scale to combat these diseases.
I have a bipolar disorder due to trauma. Growing up with 2 siblings and abusive parents, we was neglected..beat etc. all my life me and my younger brother and sister have been in numerous care placements, foster homes its horrible.
But I'm not taking any medication or having therapy because the mental health services in the UK are Sh1t!
I've been severely depressed and tried to remedy through alcohol. I felt that it worked for quite some time but then realized that depression turned into alcoholism which isn't any better. Thankfully one night I decided to lay down the alcohol cold turkey and went a solid 2 years without a drink. I've gotten to the point now where I feel I can go out to dinner and have just one drink but I'm still very cautious of the people I surround myself with and the places I go. I'm really happy to see such a thread on the forums, not a lot of people take mental health seriously.
