Me:
Story Time. I have been wanting to share this story for awhile.
I participated in a school programming competition last year.
Due to lack of people wanting to participate in our school, it was just me and my friend who had very littpe programming knowledge.
Most of the other schools composed of multiple teams of 2 to 5 students per group.
There were exactly 30 teams I think.

So the competition works like this:
Each team has 4 hours to complete as many problem sets from the booklet of 10 problems as possible.
You could code in either Java or C++ so of course I chose Java.
You write the code and put it on a flash drive and they check it and send you a paper back if anything is wrong. The output of the program had to be exactly as specified. If you forgot to put a \n at the end of the line or has a trailing space thet sent it back.
The team with the most problems correct wins 1st and second most wins 2nd and the code quality and time comes into factor too. Usually they had a top 5 winners but this year since there were more teams than usual they had top 10 and the top 5 got trophies.

Okay so other school in our district were there too. Most noteby South High which was our rivals and apparently they have like the best programming teacher in the district so they always won in the past. As a matter of fact, my school never even got an award in the past. My teacher wouldn't even talk to them before the competition lol.

Okay so each team went to their rooms and stood outside the room doors until 8am when it was time to start. Kinda funny buy one of West High (I think West High. May have been South) said you suck or something stupid like that while we were waiting to start so I just plaid along and said yea I know ot something stupid  I didn't know what to expect cuz this was me and my friends first year so I kinda expected to loose honestly.
The thing started and me and my friend's basic setup was I did all the coding and he took care of organizing everything cuz the usb's they gave us were labeled and stuff. He was a huge help even though he didn't code.
The problems were mildly difficult. Some varrying in difficulty.

When time was up we had completed 5 of the problems. We went upstairs to eat lunch and talked to one of wests teams who apparently also completed 5 problems so I was thinking we probably didn't do that well.

My teacher was estatic though. Last year our school's team didn't complete any problems so whatever happened she was happy.

After eating and like an hour of talking they started doing winners starting at 10. To my surprise, 10th place only completed 4 problems! We were guarenteed some sort of place. Ended up 10th, 9th, 8th, and 7th all only finished 4 problems. 6th place was the first one to finish 5 problems. My team won 5th place! We each got a 64gb wireless sandisk flash drive (great for playing minecraft on car rides btw), a medal, and a paper and the teacher got a trophie. Oh and we fucking beat south and west! One of easts teams got like 4th place or something.

So yea, I succeeded at life that day.

Anyone else got any cool stories?
