We were in the northern part of our county which is notorious for bad weather. Not that I'm trying to say we don't get wicked shit in south county but it was all sunshine and rainbows up north. I get a text from my father saying we had a lightning strike in the backyard. Turns out it hit our fence closest to my room. It wrecked the section of fence it hit, did some damage to our pool, and slight damage to the rain gutter -- which is almost unnoticeable. It took down our cable television and internet until today.

It also destroyed our cable modem and router. And my glorious PC got raped. Yes, I am running surge protectors. Specifically APC battery backups w/ surge protection. Needless to say without internet I was practically losing my mind. I'm an introvert so I need my 'recharging' time after a lot of social interaction and I wasn't getting it. But I should be fine because my piece of shit laptop survived lmao.

Any of y'all have similar experiences?

m8 surge protecters dont protect 1billion watts, lucky ur house didnt catch or anyone inside didnt get fried, only thing i remember was a few years ago we had no power for a week cus 2 hurricanes in a week but weather here is weird, we get a dinky ass tropical storm thats like 2 hours and power goes out but 30in of snow in 1 day or hurricane sandy we got power

There was a festival in my town and my brother and friend were going down there because my brother was taking part in parts of the festival. When they asked me if I wanted to come I told them that I would meet them down there and I decided to lie in bed for a little bit longer. There was crazy thunder and lightning that day. Turns out my friend asked my brother "What would you do if lightning hit us?" and my brother made a metallica reference by saying "Oh, I would just ride the lightning" and moments afterwards a strike of lightning smashed a tree right next to them... I think it's safe to say that I missed an experience with lightning gladly

Over here there's barely any lightning or hurricanes. Worse possible weather is just humidity and snow storms. I would be more pissed about my PC getting rekt lmao

Bruh you don't even know. I came home later that night and tried turning it on and nothing happened. Tried the next morning and shit was still not working. I just hope my SSDs and all my data are okay. I was pretty salty about it. I'm even more salty considering I have to spend around $1,400 to get all my shit replaced. And that on top of a shit ton of money I already spent in the past two months for bullshit reasons.

Get a new mobo and psu and start testing PC components
