Saw Kam's thread and I'm currently in the market as well
I had a 400hp G35 coupe and going from that to a 2009 Accord was tough and ~15k miles later I'm starting to get really bored of it. I'm in no rush but I wouldn't seeing if theres anything in my range that interests me.*
I live in California so gas is a bitch and traffic is the worst in the country so something that gets >20mpg isn't feasible for me.*I have around $9k cash to work with and will be going through private party therefore I do have a bit a wiggle room for negotiation. I have lots of experience with cars and getting them from private parties so please spare me the "you'll get a lemon" bullshit. Things that I am looking for are as follows:*
- Somewhat fast (My accord does 0-60 in like 8 sec so that won't be tough to beat)*
- Good gas mileage* (A must for California)*
- Around a 9k private market price tag
- Preferably not german as i've learned my lesson with those and maintenance upkeep

diesel truck fam no lie, get a duramax. they are fast tuned get great mileage. got spool for days, look badass. just make sure its not a lb7 since those eat injectors. unless they got proof it got newer injectors. allison transmissions are great for driving and towing etc. also 6 speed manual cummins are great to drive also
it would help if u linked your local craigslist.
if it has to be a car i'd say volvo v70r or s60r those are pretty badass and can be had for 9k and isnt your everyday run of the mill wrx garbage
thats on a stock trans economy tune not a built trans race tune

I commute fam, as much as I want a truck I can't get one because the stop and go traffic would burn a hole right in my pocket.
As far as the Volvo's, I've heard the upkeep on them isn't very forgiving as well as the fact I'm personally not a fan of them.
I was looking at Lexus is350's.. got any thoughts on those?

I'm not asking for anything crazy, just 20+ city and under 7s .. you'd be surprised what you can get with that through private party.

the duramax/ second gen cummins trucks get great mileage if your not smoking out every intersection its easy to get 20+ and still haul ass, and stop and go traffic in those is easy they dont have regen systems that need you to go 60mph for 10 minutes to burn off the soot
