A Nightmare on Elm Street was the scariest movie I ever watched but that had more to do with my age at the time. It's pretty comical now. I don't think it's easy to scare an older audience these days, which makes good horrors hard to find. We live in a much scarier world. Hard to top that.

Saw movies were scary back in the day. But rewatching them on the tele, they're pretty amusing -- especially the mindscrews.

In my opinion... Insidious.

The exorcist. My dad tells me that he and other people in the movie theater literally shit themselves because it was so scary back then. But yeah I agree that now old horror films are funny because of the makeup where today we have better makeup and cgi. Movies today aren't scary in my opinion

Conjuring. The first one has to be hands down the best paranormal scary movie to date. The 2nd was a let down but the first remains the best.
