(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Well I just read that Epic Games, makers of Paragon, Fortnite and other games, is suing a 14 year old boy for online cheating. I mean, are you guys approving this? According to me, it is really too much. They could the cheats providers and not the users. Imagine if Activision/Treyarch actually sued all of us for Copyright Infringements! So guys lets talk about that! I want your opinion dx

Epic, which has banned cheaters only to see them develop more robust workarounds, has responded by suing both distributors of the software and, now it seems, at least one user of it. Suing an individual user instead of simply banning them is an unorthodox and controversial move because it echoes the misguided actions of the music recording industry in its attempt to crackdown on piracy. These lawsuits are unique because the cheating service itself isn’t the subject of the civil litigation. Instead, Broom and Vraspir are being sued personally. Each instance of copyright infringement carries a penalty of up to $150,000. Kids 14, I dont think he deserves that. He probably has not even hit puberty yet.

> Cheater gets sued for cheating
> Cheaters starts to fear Epic 'cuz they don't want to get sued
> Cheaters stop cheating 'cuz they don't want to get sued

I mean... It's genius.

Cheaters will just start using vpn. Well thats what I would do. I think that the problem with the 14 years old kid is that they banned him and after that he just streamed how to cheat on fortnite lol He may not deserves a lawsuit that big, but he does deserve a ban. Maybe a mac or IP ban.

It won't stop cheating, and people who think it will are moronic (see Epic Games, Rockstar, etc). Also you can debate that making cheats for a game is not infringing on copyright, but I'm not going to be the one to argue that in court.

I'm actually curious to see where this goes because a lawsuit like this happened in the past with Nintendo and Galoob where Nintendo was claiming that Galoob was infringing on Nintendo's copy rights. The court sided with Galoob
