I agree with you 100%. I don't care to ruin anyones game experience. I just want to learn how to do this stuff. I've already caught on to some of it, but I have a very long way to go. I've always had an interest in programming. I also like to play the game, but don't want to be messed with any more than anyone else.
There is a fine line we have to walk between modding for our own enjoyment, and modding to troll and ruin the game for others. I like to stay firmly in the former, but there are a lot of modders that love being jerks. With no real way to weed out who those jerks are, we end up in the situation we're in now.
Nobody wants to release, and nobody wants to teach for fear of the wrong person learning and releasing to all the jerks. It's a vicious cycle that we can't seem to get out of.
