Basically, on facebook, I've seen several people subscribe to me/seen people on facebook with only their first name showing?

If spaces don't work, alt codes may be the answer.

EDIT: I just realized it's not a person, but a page to which you can "Subscribe" to. The naming guidelines aren't the same between a page and a profile.
