DSL is really old and the cables are very redundant as there is very little use for them now a days so repairs are only made when needed.
A common issue is due to disruption along the line - this can occur when the signal strength is lower or greater than required or if something is interfering with the line such as water.
I'd suggest you call your ISP and they should send out a tech. You could try using the DSL phone jack where your phone is plugged in and see it that works as could be an issue with the filter.
