I need to do it as my phone is blacklisted and doesn't find service because of this If i cant change the imei is there anything else i can so? I would rather not open it up but i will as a last resort

You can change the IMEI for the original iPhone (first gen) only via the ZiPhone program.
Unfortunately there are currently no known soft methods of changing the IMEI of the the latter generations. My advice is to look into hardware modification, of which I have no knowledge about
