I don't see how you're gonna be able to capture HDMI video due to HDCP, but I'm sure someone will let us know how that works (or not). Really the only benefit I see from this device over the HD PVR is the bundled software. I'm happy with my HD PVR and recording in 1080p is a waste of space and uploading time to me. Also 90% of the games out there playback at 720p or lower anyway making 1080p recording pointless unless you can copy movies.

UPDATE: You can record 360 using HDMI, but not on the PS3 due to HDCP, you must use component to record HD on the PS3.

Straight from the website.
But it does capture in 1080p..
With my RAID0 Hard drive set up, it wouldn't be a problem?

recording in 1080p isn't gonna be useful for video games. like i said very, very few games play in 1080p native (there is a difference between native resolution and say forcing your PS3 to only output 1080p, resulting in 720p games being scaled up to 1080p). 1080p captures are gonna be at least double the file size as 720p captures, you may have the hard drive space but editing 1080p files is gonna be a pain, not to mention you're gonna need a pretty good pc to playback/edit/render those 1080p files. if someone is looking to buy their first HD recorder i would recommend the BMI, but if you already have the HD PVR there's really no point in switching to the BMI.

Running a RAID0 Harddrive set up will help, but some games do output in 1080p, but you don't have to "force" it to upscale. If you select multiple screen resolutions for PS3, it will use the games highest scaling and won't upscale.

But I just read that there is a internal PCIe card that is needed to run this capture card.

So it's both internal and external.
