(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey guys i just got a Hauppauge HD PVR. I connected the component (red,Blue, green) cables to my pvr then in the output i put another component cable then connected it to my tv. (I did this so i can record and play in 1080i) so since i used the component cables I have no spot for the normal yellow and red audio cables. I went and bought two optcial cables, I put one in my ps3 and to my pvr. THen the second one in my pvr and out to my tv. BUT THERES NO SOUND!!!!! I've tryed everything. I even connected the optical cable from my ps3 STRAIGHT to my tv and it still HAS NO SOUND!!!!!! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!

try plugging red and white cables diresctly to the tv and optical audio to your pvr then turn on multi-out.

make sure you have the latest firmware for the hd pvr and the latest update of total media extreme. youtube doesn't playback audio in 5.1 so you don't need to use optical for that but if you want to play in 5.1 change the audio in the recording software settings from AAC to AC3 or AC3 to AAC
