Way too long, render too small/too far to the right. Don't use Drop shadow or Bevel and Emboss on text. Use a different tutorial it seems everyone of your sigs follow the same general style.

And, what should my sig canvas size be?

I use 400x150 a lot and just join a few GFX forums and there are tuts for all skill levels.
