For example, the focal is to blurred, but not blended. There's not depth. Your effects should be closer to the focal, so they don't spread out around the sig, drawing attention away from the focal. Same with text, don't make your texts so huge, keep em small, close to the focal, not too sharp or bright, so it doesn't take your eyes off the render/stock.
For example, look at my current v for vendetta sig, there's depth, lighting, and your eyes are drawn to the character, right?
