1. First of all the HD PVR records at a maximum of 1080i (not 1080p).
2. The PS3 will only output a maximum of 1080i over component cable.
3. COD is native 720p (Yes you can force any game to display 1080i/p, by up-scaling but quality will suffer.) Always best to record in the game's native resolution.
Why do people insist on up-scaling 720p native video to 1080p for YouTube? It does not make the video look better, plus it increases the video size, rendering time, uploading time for no beneficial reason.
Currently there is no way to record PS3 in 1080p using any device. You can only get a 1080p video signal from the HDMI output, and since there is HDCP protection (even on games) it will not allow you to capture the HDMI video output.
