The wireframe was good, the effects were good, but it's just a floating happy dog head and it looks like a ghost that wants to haunt me.

Whenever you're using a focal of a person or animal, always always always have more than the head and neck easily visible in the tag. Shoulders, some of the chest maybe, but definitely more than just the head.
