You don't need too smudge around all of the render in order to blend it with the background. Usually its best to just smudge parts of the render to create whatever your trying to do.

- That was my first smudge sig :p but i followed a tut on sig tutorials because i didn't know what a smudge sig was
The smudging covering him up creates a lack of flow, your composition needs work as well, try to not place the render straight in the centre. Overall the sig is boring, add more elements to spice it up.
decent for your first one, but you have to keep in mind that smudging is suppose to give it depth which you didn't do well, keep trying at it with different setting and smaller bushes, and not the same for the whole tag.
