The railing was a vector that I just placed in. But it can be made with using the polygonal tool and gradient effects.
I used the polygonal tool for the carpet to give it that straight edge.


How do you get the words in the way back to blend so well yet maintain depth?

It takes experience to fully understand the aspects of blending and adding depth. It can't easily be taught. You need deep insight on it.
