(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); hi im ash and literally like 6 hours ago i downloaded photoshop cs4 extended version, its the 1st time ive eva used any photoshop or proper image gfx program.

afta like an hour or so i got into it and a m8 of mine requested a logo for his gamebattles team his team is called SnaKes N' LaDDeRs and he wanted it to have a snakes and ladders background with a cartoony colourful style

it took me ages as i have like no idea what im doing lol but i eventually came up with this

You must login or register to view this content.

its not great i no, but he sed he loves it and its awesome so it must have been what he was after, i kept to his specifications.

i mainly just opened an image for the background and then added text and clicked fx in the layers bit then i used all the shadow/emboss tools nd stuff and just played around, i then saved it changed the size to 300x200 which is what he wanted then saved it as a .jpg file
.......................................................................................................

so basically what do u reckon? is it ok for a 1st try?

also i hav 2 questions

1. what is the difference between saving it as jpg or png?
2. can some1 explain to me what layers are? i eventually did it right but i hav no idea what layers are, how i add/remove them or what they do?

any help/constructive criticism is gr8 thank you Smile

Jpg is crap compared to png which gives a better outcome quality. PNG also supports background transparency.

Layers are the main part of your image. Whatever you have as the top layer will be in front in your image. Whatever you put in your last layer will be put behind in the back of your image.

jpeg is better for solid images, most commonly used picture type on the internet Happy

.png also supports transparent backgrounds incase you ever wanted to have one.
Rick described the layers right to the point so....
any other questions feel free to ask

thanks Smile so if layers are like the order of things that are on my logo does it automatically make a new layer everytime i add text or something? or do i have to add them myself?
