Hello And Welcome to this tutorial about me showing you how to create your Simple Effective 3D Logo In Photoshop cs5.
Step 1
Leta get started by creating a new document press
CTRL + N or FILE > NEW set your document widths & height to 500 pixels back ground color white.
Step 2
We will start by creating our Icon. For the purpose of this tutorial we will use the custom shape tool. For this i will choose the default shape Banner 3.

Step 3
Create you shape with the color set to black. as i have done below

Step 4
Now to create the 3D look we need to duplicate the shape a few times. Select your shape layer and press
CTRL + J this will duplicate the area for you.
With your duplicated shape selected move the shape up 1px and right 1px by using your arrow keys.
We will now duplicate this process 8 times. Once you have completed this change the color of your top shape layer to red so you can see the effect taking place. As shown below.

Step 5
Now we can start styling our logo Icon.
Double click on the top shape layer to show the blending options panel.
We will now give the icon a drop shadow with the settings below.

Next we will select Gradient Overly with the settings below.

Now we will add the stoke use the setting below.

With all the setting above complete click OK and you should have an icon that looks like mine below.

Right Click select copy layer style then select the very first shape you created and then right click paste layer style.
Final Result
You can duplicate this method on to many things I used this method on the text to create the logo image below
