This reminds me of some of my old sigs, the effects and the smudging is good but bit is slightly boring, try adding gradient maps, diffrent effects. just concentrate on pleasing the eye. you've tried blending the render and it has worked but it almost just looks like you smudged stuff over her edges which isn't always the answer to blending, on the whole it is a good sig though my freind keep up the good work.
Maybe some C4Ds some more colouring filters anything, if your stuck for ideas follow a few tuts, but do not just copy them make your own signature with the ideas from a tutoria and mix it with your style.

for a newb at graphics, i would say it is very good, i can see some sort of flow, and the smudging is done fairly well. However the right side does detract from the flow a little bit imo. Like tyge said; the blending could be done slightly differently to create more depth (e.g. one side of the smudging being behind her and the other in front etc). It is a tad boring, but then seeing as you're a newb i would expect that because you're still experimenting with different styles, techniques and tools. Once you find the style for you, you will be able to pack loads more detail into it. The text itself is quite good, nice and simple, how i like it =D The colour could be a little better (but that goes back to the boring thing). Also you'd need to work on lighting but as i mentioned before im sure that will come later in your sigs =]. Good job keep at it and dont stop looking at tuts =].
