I've never liked pen tooling cause i find it hard and i'm bad it but i finally decided to man up and have been looking at tuts on it and am going to start working it into more of my tags

Yeah bro pen tooling can be really nice if executed properly.
If you want a pointer, what I do is:
1. Select a soft brush that is 1 px
2. after you stroke path double click your layer on the right and use outer glow
3. Use a soft brush to lightly touch the ends so it looks like a fade and lightly touch random areas of the line.

I like it sharp like that
makes the sparks stand out, but I agree those pen tools need work. Im not a fan of pen tool going around a render, makes 0ave been smaller, different colors, or something :p stands out to much, also the render looks hidden.
