(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Im back, this time with something new! This one, in my opinion is much better than the last. I blended the render to the c4ds, and to my surprise, it looks much better. This time, I only used 2 c4ds, and tried to make the entire thing, look a tad more professional. The only thing I dont understand yet, is how to do clipping masks, and How to darken the edges. I used the burning tool for the darkening, but I really would like to know the complete usage of clipping masks, and other things like that. Let me know what you guys think, I for one think its a step up from last, which you can find here You must login or register to view this content.
Anyways, enough talk, here she is!

Hi, well done on making your second signature, it's definitely an improvement from the last one!

Rather than do my massive paragraphs like last time, I'll give you a few pointers for further improvement.

- Move the text closer to the signature: It just makes it look a bit better. If you want to add some cool effects to the text then you can mess around with it by right clicking the text layer and pressing Blending Options. Text is looking better this time by the way, good job.

- There's too much space above the renders head, you can either crop out the top part of the signature or just make the canvas a bit shorter next time :P

- The C4D flows nicely around the render, but I feel like you can do a bit more to make it blend. Try playing about with the smudge settings a bit more, there are tutorials out there which can help you with that. I also feel that you can make the colours blend a bit more, perhaps darken some parts around the signature. Good job on making the render the focal point.

- Last of all, don't be afraid to experiment. Play around with textures, C4D's, filters, colour effects etc. and mess around with the layer types and opacity. See what fits! You can add a border too by creating a new layer, selecting the whole canvas with the square selection tool and going to edit>stroke, then play around with the settings.

Great job, not many people can make signatures as neat as that when they first start.

By the way, in case you're wondering what my first signature looked like, you can find it in one of the topics in this section called "What was your first ever signature?" :p

I really appreciate your feedback man! It helps me figure things out a little better. And what do you mean by darken the edges of the signature? I dont know what tools to use for that, and what do u mean by making it blend better? I ran the smudge tool all around the outline of the render, what else is there to do with it? An answer would be great good sir Smile

Hi again, I should have explained that further sorry.

Make a new layer, and get a very large soft brush (about 300 px) and brush lightly at the very edge of the signatures, don't let the actual black bit of the brush show, just the dark bit of the edge. Then do the same with a large white brush where you want the light source to be Smile Lower the opacity a bit so it's not too over-powering (if necessary)

For blending you can mess about with the settings a bit more. (Remember to duplicate you render and put it at the bottom of your signature in case you go wrong with your smudging) Use these settings for a good effect:

Hard brush 15 px
Strength 60-70%

Right, you see next to where it says your brush and the size of your brush, it has a file with 3 paintbrushes inside it? Click that, then use these settings:

Tick Shape Dynamics: Set size jitter to 100%
Tick Scattering: Set Scatter to 240%, tick both axes.
Tick Transfer
Tick Smoothing

That should give you a good effect. Smudge parts of the render such as their arms. Want to know a good tip for smudging? Use the colour picker on the part you're going to smudge before smudging it, otherwise you'll find that bits of blue or another colour could be appearing when you're smudging something orange.

Hope this helped, feel free to ask any more questions Smile

This looks really good, a huge improvment over your last one. Well done!

Do a barrel roll!
Good job considering this is only your second one, James hit the nail on the head on explaining on what needs to be improved. Keep trying! Cant wait to see the third one you make.

Next time try blending the render in with the background a little, layer it up, smudge multiple under layers, it builds effect and looks nice when done correctly.

Work on doing something with the render, for example a battle field? throw some smoke and rocks in front of it so it looks like its in the middle of an explosion from a grendade. The eyes and backgroind was a good idea, like how you incorporated that, throw a bit of lighting and shadows to your tag to help it stand out more and add some depth. The text I would remove, or atleast take away the effects so it doesnt look as nooby :p keep it as simple as you can for right now, the NGU works well Smile overall good start! Keep it up I see something coming from this
