First,you need to find the MP4 you want to turn into a GIF.If your using a youtube video I recommend downloading it using a website-based download service than downloading a potential virus onto your beautiful computer.I normally use keepvid.com or find the bookmarklet for PWNyoutube.
In this tutorial I'll be using:
Download it using what you want.Then open the MP4 up in Photoshop.
Make sure you have the timeline/animation bar up at the bottom by going to Window>Workspace>Motion
This is where it gets a little difficult but try to follow along
Your timeline should look something like this if you have Opened the MP4, You must login or register to view this content.
Drag the You must login or register to view this content. to where you want the GIF to start then go to the You must login or register to view this content. in the top right corner of the timeline and select You must login or register to view this content. (this is CS6 so if your using a different version it will probably be easier to use the video tutorial)
Then drag the You must login or register to view this content. to where you want the GIF to end.
Do the same as you did for the start of the GIF and this time,go to You must login or register to view this content.
Now,your GIF is ready to be saved.Go to file>save for web and devices>GIF dithered and your finished
