Make a new layer

Okay, go grab your Polygonal tool.

While holding shift, create a show more or less like so:

After creating your shape, right click>Select inverse.
Now, right click again and fill, I prefer using dark colour (looks more effective.) so use these two if you like: #333333 or #000000.

Okay, so far you should have something like this:

Okay, now we wan't to make the crap looking border, more futuristic of a look, use these settings or experiment yourself:

Okay, heres a tip for all of you on how to make it look more tech, use tools like the rectangle marquee on your sig (While holding shift)
and make square and circle wholes in places, it adds a nicer effect:

Now, heres a little tip that I couldn't be bothered to use on my SOTW entry, you can download some nice patterns (preferably grunge) and go to Blending options>Pattern Overlay
reduce the opacity to your liking, I done that and it came out pretty nicely:

(Note: I would of probably made a different kind of shape, it takes too much space off the render on this one, but it gives you the idea!)
