3D Effect

For this tutorial, I'll be using this image:

I personally think that using images without color makes this effect look better but hey, you use what you want

What you'll want to do first is duplicate your original image (Ctrl+J) and rename it if you want to so you won't be confused.
You must login or register to view this content.

Now right click the duplicate layer and select blending options. Now uncheck the green and blue boxes in the Channels section.

Now duplicate the 2nd layer and go back to the blending options. This time check the blue and green boxes and uncheck the red box in the Channels section.

Now select the the first layer you added the blending options to and make sure the move tool is selected. You can use the right arrow key to move it to the right until it looks good to you.

Do the same thing with the other layer except to the left.

You now have a 3D effect on your photo and you did it in about 5 minutes. You can save it here or move on to the VHS glitch tutorial.

Now select all the layers and right click. Select Merge Layers.

Now paste the scanlines image into your image. DO NOT STRETCH IT IF IT DOESN'T FIT. Stretching it will make the scanlines look weird. Copy and paste it then merge layers if it doesn't fit.

Merge all the layers again.

Now use the select tool and select an area you would want the glitch to show. Right click and select Layer via cut.

Repeat the process until you reach your desired look. When finished, merge all layers once more.

Optional Steps

If you want to place emphasis on the glitch select the pencil tool with a 1pt stroke and a color that matches your background.

Click the beginning point of a glitch and hold shift. While holding shift, click the end of the glitch. This will make the glitch stand out. Do this for all the glitches you have in your photo.
