I think it depends on what kind of phone you are looking for.

If you want to surf the internet alot I would go with the Desire cause it offers Flash compatability

Plus HTC Sense is great Upside Down Happy

But if you're looking for a sleek cool looking cell phoen go for the Xperia Upside Down Happy

I recommends the HTC Desire for One main reason.
Android 2.2.

Because of that, the Desire will have much more feature like flash (for exemple).
The interface HTC sence is pretty good with many widget and custom.

In the case of Xperia 10. You have the design and... that's all :p

Get a HTC Desire, i own a xperia, it looks nice and all it has alot of potential and could do alot but at the moment sony ericsson fails to let it do so.

X10 has issues with the earpiece at the moment. The master volume is too low and you need to be in a quiet room to hear the person you are talking too.

There is supposed to be a fix soon but it is not released at the minute.
