AT&T can never buy Verizon Wireless for several reasons:

1. Both operate on different technologies (ATT runs on GSM, Verizon on CDMA)
2. It would result in billions of dollars of losses due to the differences in stocks
3. It would violate numerous anti-trust laws
4. ATT does not have that type of cashflow to invest after paying out $39 Billion for buying out T-Mobile

so, how would buying verizon go against anti trust laws when att bought out t mobile? yea...
to the point: att and verizon are too big to buy each other out, instead theyll pray on smaller companies and buy em out. and theyll be the phone super powers for many decades.
