(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I always suspected of something like this, but now it seems as it has finally come to light. The program is called CARRIER IQ or CIQ for short and apparently it runs in the background and sends out text, phone numbers dialed even buttons pressed on our phones. So far from the article NOKIA has been the only company to come fourth and say "CIQ doesn't ship with any of there phones" but again this is just an initial statement to protect there brand I guess. What do you guys think ???? comment, rant, whatever!

Yes I am aware, but your implying that the 100 Billion people in this earth are under suspicion of terrorism.....LOL come on! And furthermore my understanding of the patriot act is that it kicks in after surveillance and intelligence work has been done and there is some ground to hold suspicion. Were not talking about the goverment or terrorism were talking about HTC or MOTOROLA, APPLE gathering our data for WHAT PURPOSE????? there is a big difference.

I agree with you 100% if this were the goverment, not a phone company or manufacturer and I can't fathom the goverment would need HTC or whomever to do this work for them. There doing this to compile some kind of data or who knows which goes back to my initial statement that it is ILLEGAL, I guess we can agree to disagree at how we look at this matter. What if NIKE decided to put a tracking device in every running shoe to know where were walking/running too then what's next.

This thing is useless in iOS5 and don't do anything and Apple say today that they going to remove even the files in 5.1 and that this never send personal information it was used for crash reports and they when encrypted until the files reach Apple servers, so if someone get the files he need to decrypt it Smile

Actually CIQ is in the IPHONE, however it can not read as much as it can on ANDROID base devices. A quote from the Article "The only data Chpwn could see being accessed by CIQ on the iPhone were things like the carrier, country, active phone calls and physical location (assuming location services are turned on). He did not find things like message content or any keystroke-logging type of activity. Whatever the app does log, it appears that it only works when the phone is in diagnostic mode, so preventing the data from being transmitted is no insurmountable task."
