(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hello I'm MLGKitty and I want to start out that I have never actually had a smartphone or any kind of phone for that matter. I need some help and some of your own personal opinions on which phone I should get. Here is what i am looking for: I am looking for a phone like most of the other kids at my school have. I have recently earned $300 in chores and other little jobs so the maximum price has to be $300. By what "the other kids at my school have" I am talking about those phones with all the apps and that has internet on it and stuff. I'm not looking for something top of the line. I was considering an iphone but my friends said not to because they break too easy or something. I also have questions on what contracts are as I have never purchased a phone I have no idea of what they are really used for. Overall I'm looking for a semi-cheap, durable, internet capable phone. I would also like to know how unlimited texting/calls and plans work. I would like to hear your opinions and answers to my questions. Thanks for your help.

Any preferences? Most people around school are going to have iPhones. The iPhone 4S is still a fully capable phone and with a decent case you will be good to go. It's 99 bucks now with a two year contract in the states. The phone won't break easily if it's in a case. The iPhone 5 however is still $199 I believe on a two year term, and it is very durable with the aluminum unibody. Don't let people convince you otherwise, as they most likely do not know what they are talking about and just use the preconceived notion that all iPhones break easily. The difference is that the 4S does not have LTE capability and has a smaller screen and is slower. The dealbreakers are really just that the 5 has LTE (to put it simply, really fast internet) and it has a 4 inch screen.

You could also get a Samsung Galaxy S3, however the phone is very large and isn't for everyone. If I remember correctly the S3 is also 99$. So if you want to compare cost to cost, the S3 beats the 4S, and the North American version of the S3 gets beaten by the iPhone 5 narrowly in speed and benchmarks. Both the S3 and 5 have LTE capabilities.

Unlimited calling and texting plans work just the way you would expect them to. You get unlimited (usually) nationwide calling during all hours of the month, and you have unlimited texting nationwide as well.

Okay. Since it'll be your first smartphone, I totally recommend the Samsung Galaxy Ace.
It's an amazing phone for its price and it'll be great for your first smartphone. I don't recommend going for an iPhone 4s since it'll be your first. With the Galaxy Ace, you'll be expecting to pay around $100-200 at-least for it, which is amazing phone for the price.
It's 3.5" with a 5MP camera. You have a 3G network so you can connect to the internet and when at home, connect to your wireless router etc.. and go to the Android Market (Play Store) and download the apps that take your please.

Overall an amazing phone and very durable. Sure, it certainly beats my first phone..
