find me on twitter now
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Apparently we have a new section called "mobile gaming"
but my question to you is, do you even consider mobile games as "gaming"?
I don't know about you, but for me i would never consider playing 20 minutes of a random app on my phone as "gaming".
I consider most of the apps just time killers.
Gaming for me will always consist of a console and a television.
Also i find that most of these "games" are usually lame 10 year old games. I find none of these "games" even worth being called games xD.

What are your opinions?
do you think someone that plays only angry birds could consider themselves a "gamer"?

I think there's obviously a big difference between casual gamers and 'hardcore' gamers, but that doesn't mean you should discount the former entirely.

Mobile gaming is just another platform in the same was as the gameboy or game gear were when they first hit the scene.

Some of the guys and G.I.R.L.'s that play these apps I'd consider "hardcore" gamers (Sad fucks) they spend a shit load of cash on points/silver/whatever the money making con is and are really dedicated to their gaming pretty much in the same way if not more dedicated as the members on this forum are to the CoD series of games.

So yea I'd consider mobile gaming as gaming, graphics/title/hardware aside tablet and mobile gaming isn't much different to handheld gaming like the Nintendo DS.

That's true, I didn't even think of that. It's exactly the same as when we used to play on our gameboys except obviously the standard of game has improved.

I would say rather than putting people into groups like the OP has done we should welcome the fact that now it is easier than ever to become a 'gamer' and its market will continue to grow.

so playing online games through your phone isn't gaming anymore and who cares if they are old the old games had the best story lines because they didn't have online to make them sell lots of copies

Have you played Black Ops Zombies for iOS and Android? Almost like the console version to me. If that's not 'mobile gaming', then I'm not sure what is. It's what I do when I'm not at home to get my full dose of zombie killing Winky Winky

The general idea of a "gamer" is someone who enjoys wasting their time looking at pixels, so yes, I believe they are gamers.

I'm with you. To me, they are only time killers.. while at work, school, or just waiting for something.

There's a lot of games available, and I'm sure they are good too. I have this zombie game called Dead Trigger, and it's sorta fun. Looks amazing, though. The graphics are pretty polished for a mobile game, similar to the PS Vita to be honest.

The main thing keeping me away from seriously getting involved with the mobile games is the control setup. I can't be bothered tilting my phone to make a turn in a racing game or use the touch screen in which I eventually end up blocking most of the screen. It's not a comfortable setup for me. So yea, to me, gaming does consists of a console plugged into a television. Or a PC. Handheld gaming devices, like the PSP, Vita, DS, etc. are things I stay away from. I see them only as time killers in between things which I can't take too seriously. I used to own a PSP and I only played games on there for so long until I stopped caring. Maybe a few mins while laying on my bed before sleeping, but other than that, I never was too into or dedicated to the whole idea of gaming mobility.

I like to have a nice beer on the side, sitting on a soft, comfy bean bag, with a headset on talking to my friends while playing a game. That, to me, is proper. And a hell of a lot more enjoyable than struggling with horrible control setups and tiny screens.
