Install modified google play store (very handy, basically get everything for free)
Mod games (if your into that)
Consequences-
Trips the warranty and knox (knox depends on device)
Depending on what you do, can slow down the device
Some apps wont run when root is dected (however this can be bypassed easily)

The best way to root is again depending on the device either:
Towelroot by Geohot or Odin tool which can root almost any device, both easy to use
