Yes people are working on it and it is possible to fix once the Play Station Network moves from PS3 to PS4. Once they move to PS4 there will probably be a lot more modding on with PS3.

This is not true, they have a pretty strong structure now, and their dev teams aren't just going to give up on the PS3 system.
It is rumored for the PS3 to make it's way up to a final 5.00 firmware.
(when I say works it's way up, I mean through 4.50, 4.60, 4.70, 4.80, 4.90, 5.00 although it is not confirmed)

Maybe when psn dev workers move to ps4 but i doubt it
