I drew it from the original Blastoise sprite... so yes its not visibly an actual sprite but it is based on one.

Although your works may be well-made and respected by the graphics community, you're not catering to the fans. This competition is all about winning fans over. By looking at previous winners, you can see that certain styles are favorable.

Except for the fact that you couldn't sketch that if you wanted to. You'd be lying and would be disqualified either way.
