Well that's not how merch clans work, only about 10% of the clan makes money, the rest of them lose alot. The only people that always make money are the leaders, they buy the items ahead of time and then they tell the clan to buy it. As the price goes up they sell theirs and make a profit because everyone in the clan is buying it. Then they tell the clan to dump and half of the can't even dump because everyone is trying to sell it and no one is buying.

Causing the price to be lower than what they bought it for an losing them alot of money.

All merch clans are scams, a private group of 4-5 rich people set them up then buy the item so they have enough to make a profit then have all the suckers that join the clan to raise the price, the original 4-5 then sell to make a profit. The most successful aren't totally a scam just that its very hard to get hold of the item that is being merched

As with all pyramids schemes, only a select few benefit.
