Germany. Known for many things. Apple Strudel, Gingerbread, Berlin, Albrecht Altdorfer (a famous painter that I had to google myself), sauerkraut, and lets not forget, beer. :y:
Now it's time to add one more thing to the list. After 17 years, Germany is now officially allowing the sale of one of the most iconic games of
our generation. Doom. And also it's sequel, Doom 2. Germany has officially given the two games a rating of USK-16, allowing them to be
sold whenever Bethesda Softworks (the publisher of Doom) decides to actually sell the game. Germany is keeping a ban
on one version of Doom 2 however, stating the reason being is because it "contains levels from Wolfenstein with Nazi imagery."
Bethesda Softworks is very pleased with the decision, as quoted from an interview with
Joystiq. Bethesda Softworks
has also said, "that it will let folks know when it plans to actually makes the game available in Germany."
