It's only been a few hours since Game Informer announced this new title developed by Bethesda Gameworks and Zenimax Online, and they have some good news, discussing the direction in which they plan on taking The Elder Scrolls title.

Creative Director Paul Sage talks about how keeping the "Elder Scrolls" feel to the new game is a vital part in creating it. This "feel" includes the balanced combat system, detailed environment and interactive items throughout the whole world, he states that "this does not translate easily to the MMO genre".

“We’ve really got to create a compelling game first,” says Sage, “It needs to be comfortable for people who are coming in from a typical massively multiplayer game that has the same control mechanisms, but it also has to appeal to Skyrim players. You want to hit those touchstones, but more important than that, you’ve got to create an experience that’s unique and fun.”

The main story you'll be following (if you choose to do so) during the title is the war on the large continent of Tamriel roughly 1,000 years before the happenings in Skyrim. Nerevarine's battle is against Dagoth Ur in Morrowind, lords fighting against the invasion of those from Oblivion, causing a breakout of civil war throughout the soil of Skyrim.

Within the lands of Tamriel, you (the user) have three options when it comes to the alliance of your choosing, with three different races within each alliance. The first alliance would be the Nords, Dunmer (Dark Elves), and the Argonians, forming the Ebonheart Pact. The second alliance includes Altmer (High Elves), Bosmer (Wood Elves) and the flashy Khajiit race, all combined, is the Aldmeri Dominion. And lastly, the Daggerfall Covenant, with Breatons, Redguard, and Orcs.

The main villain within the world of The Elder Scrolls: Online is the almighty King of Worms, named Mannimarco, who's plotting to take over the realm of mortals with the evil Daedric prince of pure dominance, Molang Bal.

The leveling experience is based upon the average Elder Scrolls title. Also, taking place in 100% third person, the players will be given a hotbar for a plethora of different attacks, actions, and different things for you to put to use. Skilltrees appear to be more MMO-based, where you choose a specific direction in which you'd like to go, meaning you can't master every aspect of the combat system, however, you are still granted the ability to join every guild within the game.

NPCs interaction lays a enormous role in the online experience, giving you the most realistic gameplay possible, these interactions include robberies and random dialogue (it's said you have the ability to kill any civilian if you choose to do so during these little additions to the game).

When it comes to an open world such as The Elder Scrolls: Online, it gives you a completely different experience from what you've had since the other titles, YOU do what you want, you interact with who you want to interact with, and there's an endless amount of side stories to encounter. The article (in the magazine) includes a detailed report about a werewolf quest you can run through, where your decisions decide where you go within the story. The title is planning to bring back public dungeon running as well, giving you a more natural way to build groups instead of other MMORPG's where you run instances. Heroic modes will also be included for smaller groups who would like to run through instance dungeons, and the very popular raid.

The game itself will be set from Skyrim all the way to Morrowind, but leaving certain areas off for exploring, as Bethesda and the crew would like to use those areas for future expansions. The familiar Cyrodiil will make up the center point of the chaos, where war will be raging, and players can experience a whole new style of PvP.

Due to Tamriel being such a large place, interacting with players is a key role in the title, and the developers behind the MMO are looking for a way to keep the main areas under control, so they don't get too populated causing lag and connection errors for players.

Below is a picture of the aspects and elements have made it into the massively organized online game, but keep in mind that they're trying to keep most of it a surprise, so don't be too disappointed if you don't enjoy the information given.
