Compared to last years World Championship, the prize pool has increased with $80,000. However, there will be two more teams competing for prize money this time. To some the prize money may seem impressive, but it's quite low when compared with the Dota 2 International 2014, in which the winner took home just over $5 Million. Also considering the fact that at this point League of Legends has more daily players than Instagram has daily visitors and that League of Legends has 32 million players monthly, the prize pool could have been higher.

A quick rundown of how the 2014 World Championship works: each of the 16 qualifying teams for Worlds will be drawn into one of four groups (four teams per each group). Two out of the four groups will play the entirety of their group stage games in Taiwan, and the other two groups will play the entirety of their group stage games in Singapore. During the group stage, each team will play every other team twice (once on blue side, once on purple) - meaning that each team plays six games and there are 24 games per location.
