It's a pretty steep asking price for what you really get. Something as simple as collision does not seem to function correctly. You can get stuck on a patch of grass (not kidding). This isn't something I would expect for a game that's been in development for as long as this has.

Apparently the steam release is nothing more than to fund the console version so we'll have to see how this turns out. From what I've played so far it does have the socom feel to it. But its far from what I think they were "envisioning".

Trust me its come a long way from when I started playing in the Alpha. More features and a map will be coming soon. I'm involved in all the pre-patch development testing each week and should be something special coming in the next one. Winky Winky

Alot of early access games have "come a long way" but after the mass banning on their forums for anyone who said anything wrong with the game and seeing the state it currently is in now. I wouldn't recommend anyone dropping what they are asking to pick it up.

None of the guns feel different then the others.
Hit detection is jankier than CSS.
Collision is much to be desired.
2 Maps really?
3rd person view just seems a bit off. Not really sure how to explain it but it doesn't seem right. I honestly do see this probably being one of the harder things to fix.

These people aren't new to making games. If this was a batch of weekend coders it would be fine but it's not.

Aside from my complaints the few things that seem pretty great right now the room lobby that resembles S1 and 2.
Hopefully they make good on their decision to allow for player dedicated hosting because that's something that just doesn't exist anymore for any shooter game. That alone to me would be worth it.

Again I am happy this is being made but it's been a few years now and what you get for the money is not justifiable.

Some of your points are valid but keep in mind the ue4 build has been in development for less than a year. Ue3 build was scrapped. I'm not a fan of the hit detection either, and character is way to stiff for me. That may be why the 3rd person seems off. Not trying to make excuses just sharing thoughts. And price did seem steep. I cant speak for the bans, some people cant differentiate constructive criticism from trolls. I think over time it will be a good game, but it still has a long way to go,just hope people are willing to wait that long.

Well apparently some of what I was complaining about may have been fixed with the patch released today:

Important Notes:

The studio and development team are aware of the requests to improve hit mechanics. Here is a repeat of Kevin's response to the comments on this issue for any who missed it:

We hear you about the hit detection. We are working on it. Hit scan would not solve the problem (at this time). This is a larger problem related to network prediction.

Network prediction helps deter the problems associated with network lag. As an example, the client sees a running player in one location but the server sees him a meter ahead of that, thus making it difficult to shoot him. This makes it feel like you have to lead the shot but in reality you are predicting where the player is on the server.

We are bringing in a team of network prediction experts beginning next week to start taking care of it. This also encompasses the issue with the jittery spectator camera. We want to get this fixed as soon as possible.

Hitscan and weapon mechanics will be reviewed after these fixes are implemented.

I have yet to play it and won't be able to till later on today but if what was said is true, then that's great. Seems like they are somewhat prioritizing what matters

It's not a matter of patience. It's a matter of them doing what they need to be doing. They are already back to banning / deleting threads on the steam forums that have any form of real criticism.
Apparently hit detection has been an issue for a long time now without any actual sign of them doing anything other than "We are working on it".

Well at least I am not getting stuck on blades of grass anymore so there's that.
