Drop the 2500K. You have no point in it. "K" is for Overclocking and overclocking only. The 2500 and 2500K is same thing.
You don't even have a mother board that will let you overclock it. "H" will not overclock, only "P" series will.

So,

CHange to the 2500.
Update the motherboard to a H67 <-- Yes big deal H61 is very bad boards.
Update the Video card. 8800 is not very good.

The memory is ok. But if you can offored $85 get 8gigs. (Make sure your getting DUAL channel. No need for triple or quad channel.)
Look at motherboard specs. Make sure you have MHz that match it.
Most of the motherboards are 1333MHz make sure your Memory matches it. Don't buy 1600MHz for a 1333MHz board, it is a waist of money.

As some other guy above said, get a better graphics card and you should be able to run almost anything.

I'd just like to add - how much did this cost altogether? I'm intrigued...

I've been wanting to build my own PC for an extremely long time, but never had the cash & always been broke :(

I'm also building a gaming PC, and I'll be getting an i7 2600k though but you should be good with what you have.. Yes

Get a better graphics card though, that's a very important part of a gaming PC. Winky Winky

2500 and the k really aren't the same, if you going to get a sandy bridge you might as well spend the few extra and get the k version. the 8800GT isn't a shitty card, compared to maybe the 400 and 500's yea but it's still a beefy card. H will overclock, just not the multiplier, only go with an H board if you plan on using the built in video which he clearly isn't doing.

If you plan on overclocking it, have fun, currently sitting at 4.8 on my 2600k just on air. Pretty impressive and worth the money
