Looks like a good build although I'd get a 1tb hard drive than a 500. (I load a ton of music and movies so if you do the same it is an option).

Maybe I should or might get it as an external drive depending on what I would use it for (maybe if I ran out of space)

You can't get a 256GB USB Stick for that low of cash, what you are thinking of is 32gb flash drives, 64 is about 40 more in cash and 128 is about 120-160.

I don't know where you saw a 256 for so low but either it is a scam or a scam.

First, I don't think there is any need for an i7 2600k processor, a i5 2500k is way more than enough for any game, unless you want to do some extremely heavy photo and video rendering you'll be fine with the i5 2500k, and even if you do want to you'll still be fine with the i5.

I'd go with an ASRock motherboard instead of Asus, they're a lot more reliable and often cheaper for the same features.

Your SSD is ok, personally I got the Crucial M4 64GB hard drive, it might be a little more expensive but its a lot more reliable and a little bit faster too.
Windows 7 Ultimate boots up in 10seconds with my PC.

Your GPU is okay, 6950 is better and not much more expensive.
Or, if your willing to wait a few weeks you can get one of the new AMD 7000 series GPU, might be in the 300$ price at first, but if you switch to the i5 2500k you will have saved that much. I would spend the money in a better GPU than the i7 2600k, as very few games are CPU reliant these days.

And last but certainly not least, your case. If your going to spend that much on a PC, don't cheap out on the case.
I'd get a full tower not a midi, provides room for expansion and bigger, better components. And better airflow too.

Other than that everything looks okay, if you don't mind pirating Windows you can save a lot of money there. Its really easy to do.
Double check that everything is compatible.

Your an idiot.
Check the price tag. Thats almost 800$. He never said they didn't exist he just said they weren't that cheap.
I also doubt you have one.
