Man you don't need a good processor, but It's pointless wasting money on a shitty one, that can only barely run a game. This means you're going to have to close everything else in order to play the game at a desirable state.

My advice is always make sure, If you're building your own PC buy an i5 2500k and If you have an extra bit of cash go for the i7 2600k. I have the i7 2600k and processor speed really does make a difference to your gaming experience. Also there's games that are CPU heavy as someone above said.

So basically what I would say is don't just plan to build a PC for gaming to barely scrape by running a game, when you could just save a little more to get a good processor and a good GPU that will last.

My recommendations on the GPU is the one I have: EVGA GTX 570 Superclocked ( I know this GPU costs nearly to the amount this PC costs haha, but I'm just putting my opinion out there for people looking to get a PC for gaming :p )

Simply because It can run every game on ultra so far, including The Witcher 2. You're better off saving more money for good parts If you plan on gaming. But since this thread is for the cheapest build for gaming, what I've said probably doesn't even come into the equation, but I definitely recommend to build a good PC If you plan on gaming on It.

Not worth it, the only difference between the i5 2500k and the i7 2600k is hyper threading speeds are almost identical especially since both are overclockable, hyper threading isn't used in games, and in some games it can actually reduce performance, not significantly of course, only slightly, but its still 100euro more, would be much better off putting the money into a better GPU.

Also, i7 is better, may It be slightly or not, It's still better.
