(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Im trying to bring life back into a old pc i have laying around that is going to a friend i do not wish to buy a new pc that the person wont actually use other then browsing or basic pc needs like microsoft word. The gpu in it is a ati radeon hd 3850 i believe. Looking for a upgrade that is worth putting in to the computer from a $1-120 price range any higher its not worth putting in the computer with the current cpu

If he's going to do nothing but YouTube, MS office and other basic tasks, just get You must login or register to view this content.and call it a day.

Or if you want to spend more get a 7750. The 9800GT was amazing for it's time, but it's old and gone. The 280 is very good, but it's refurbished, doesn't run DX11 and loves to use it's power.

Honestly I would recommend the 7750. It doesn't even need a power cable and it can actually play some games too, and it's within the budget.

id suggest gtx 610 low power has hdmi, can maybe help with hd video. and a 7750 with it makes no sense as the athlon 64 x2 is ancient from when amd was better then intel. just a $45 and gets basic tasks done and wont bottleneck and take any power from the PSU i mean if anything it should help the PSU. and with the other couple $ maybe get a new PSU for it to make it more efficient.

hey just upgrade to a intel sandy pentium or a amd apu. add a 4gb stick of ram and your good to go. and only spend around $150 but for another $150 just get a whole new pc since your doing such large upgrades. you could get a cheap case for $25 and a cheap $50 hdd and that power supply or a new one. since its from dell and prob shit. a 400w for $40.
